Talking to an employee to offer support resources for substance use or mental health can be intimidating especially if you think they will get upset or be oppositional. In this course, you’ll establish a baseline understanding of the disease of addiction and how it impacts the brain and get expert advice on how to best approach employees who may be struggling with substance use or mental health from a place of caring. Step through role play examples of conversations with willing, hesitant, and resistant employees to understand how to convey your message to each type of person. Also learn how to talk to an employee with a family member who is struggling with substance use and direct them to support.
