While Tom’s alcohol use definitely spiraled out of control while he was deployed in the U.S. Army Reserve, he had established a pattern of heavy drinking with few consequences as a teenager and young adult. Hear Tom describe how his risky use of alcohol escalated into a substance use disorder, his perceived consequences for getting help, and how unprocessed trauma added fuel to the fire.
